Theatrical Design and Technology

The Theatrical Design and Technology major is designed for students who are interested in in pursuing a career in technical theatre. Majors can choose a concentration in one or more of the following areas: Scenery, Costumes, Lighting, Sound, Projections, and Technical Direction. 

Training is divided between classroom study and practical production work. Theatrical Design and Technology students have the opportunity to design for department productions.  Training and design opportunities are enhanced by our new, state-of-the-art facilities.

Portfolio

Students interested in the theatrical design and technology program should prepare a brief portfolio of their work showcasing their strengths, skills and experience and be prepared to discuss their portfolio with the faculty.

Degree Requirements

Theatrical Design and Technology majors are required to complete a minimum of 120 semester hours of study. The majority of the semester hours will be in technical theatre and other theatre-related courses in addition to core liberal arts requirements.
